CVIS Cooperative Systems Workshop and Product Launch Event
CVIS workshop and SAFESPOT participation

SAFESPOT was invited to participate to the Cooperative Systems Workshop and Product launch organised by the CVIS project to be held in Berlin, Germany on 10-11 December 2008. The event presented some of the most important results from CVIS, national and other European FP6 and FP7 project results in the area of cooperative systems. The SAFESPOT presentations included a presentation on SAFESPOT Car-to-Car communication by Achim Brakemeier (DAI) and SAFESPOT Positioning by Robin Schubert (TUC).

SAFESPOT to EUCAR Conference

The EUCAR Conference and Reception took place on 26 November 2008 at Autoworld, Brussels. At the Reception & Conference invited representatives from the EU institutions and industry shared their views on future challenges and R&D. SAFESPOT was represented by Roberto Brignolo (CRF) who presented the project's latest developments and achievements. A project's poster was also included to the respective poster session of the conference.

Telematics Munich 2008 was a European conference on the future of the automotive, mobile and web-based telematics held in Munich, at 6-7 November 2008, gathering a wide interest from mainly industrial companies of the area. SAFESPOT was represented by the project coordinator R. Brignolo (CRF). R. Brignolo made a joint presentation with R. Mietzner, the General Manager of the Car to Car Consortium, on the SAFESPOT applications and on how the C2C Consortium is connected to the SAFESPOT project.

The Car to Car Forum was held on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2008 at the Opel, Dudenhofen Test Center. This was the second event of the annual forum and the latest news of the Car 2 Car communication consortium was discussed. At this forum L. Andreone (CRF) presented the SAFESPOT project and its applications. The relevant presentation can be downloaded here.

SAFESPOT was again present at the ITS Europe in 2008. On Wednesday 4 June at 11:00 h started the special interest session with the title: "Towards a co-operative automotive and traffic environment: The SAFESPOT approach."

A number of issues were discussed related to co-operative systems including the efforts towards a common architecture for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) co-operation, and the related platforms that are under development in SAFESPOT, which will enable co-operative applications. In order to give the audience an idea of the future of co-operative driving the specific applications developed in SAFESPOT and also in the related WATCH OVER STREP were presented. [more]

In 2008 the annual General Assembly was hosted by University of Stuttgart. The meeting was on the 22nd of January 2008, after the Common Workshop of SAFESPOT with the WATCH OVER project "Cooperative Systems for Road Safety" which was on the 21st and the morning of the 22nd of January 2008. The 23rd of January was also dedicated for cross SP meetings and internal technical workshops.

The progress of the project's research activities was discussed during the assembly meeting while the new project results were presented.
